Sophia Nino is a documentary filmmaker based out of Orange, California. She graduated from Chapman University in 2021 with a BFA in documentary filmmaking. During her time at Chapman she found a passion for working with stories surrounding music and fashion and hopes to continue working with these stories after graduation. The most recent film she directed and edited is Lost in the Shuffle, created as her senior thesis, and takes an experimental approach to how we deal with grief. The film is a journey of unlocking memories through the possessions our loved ones leave behind.

 

In 2021 she also co-directed and co-produced Valley of Flower, a documentary focusing on the effect of COVID-19 on the flower farming industry in the Northern San Diego County area. Other notable works include:  (Re)Design about a young entrepreneur's journey creating a fully sustainable clothing company to combat the harmful effects of the fast fashion industry, Local Deadbeat Fest which follows the process of putting on a DIY concert by the production company Local Deadbeat Agency at their third anniversary show.


Sophia was a production intern on the HBO feature documentary Fake Famous (2021). This film focuses on influencer culture and how easy it is to trick the system. During her time on Fake Famous, she handled paperwork, assistant editorial work as well production outreach for setting up content for scenes.
